Our Other Kids

Two more loves of our lives! Our two Chocolate Labrador Retrievers: Hazel and Memphis. We got them from the same litter up in Logan, Utah, August of 2005. They are sisters and couldn't be more different from each other. Their middle names (Hazel Schilling and Memphis Ortiz) should be self-explanatory for any Red Sox fan! And yes, their full names are on their dog tags.

We love them like crazy, and love doing anything outside with them: swimming, camping, hiking, biking, or running. They are spoiled with attention and love, but Brent's scary voice always sends them running scared! Hazel is the obedient one, always making sure we're around and near- but Memphis has been our rebel child, and we have gone through many experiences with her: skunks, hit by a car (I watched it happen, and couldn't stop crying for hours), swallowed a hook (with fishing line still intact), ripped off one of her claws, ran away once (or twice), and numerous other escapades. She tries our patience (and wallet) but we wouldn't get rid of her for anything. Despite their crazy adventures, they are happy, healthy, and loved pups, and a humungous part of our little family.

Our Kids

Brent's ten year-old son, Jacob. Beside's inheriting his father's good looks and his mother's beautiful shaped eyes, he is the most wonderful child. (Child? He turns 11 this October!) He is easy going and happy and we are always missing him. He lives in Oregon with his mother, and plays all kinds of sports and loves video games and anything fun. He doesn't like to read, but I'm hoping to try to rub off some of my love of words on him. Sometimes it's months before we get to see him, and Brent misses him fiercely- it's so amazing to see them together, and how alike they can be, and how similar they look like each other! We are hoping to start our own family soon, I am hearing the clock ticking louder every year!

Our Wedding

The best day of my life: October 9th, 2004

Boston, Massachusetts Temple. Our story is one full of miracles, and this day we celebrated the greatness of life, of God, of families, and of each other. I have never felt so good about a decision in my life than that of marrying my sweet boy. We are so happy together, and are loving the adventure!

The Basics

Hello, all!
After much prompting (thank you, my wild lioness) I decided to start in on the blog world.
We live on the mountain of the eagle (word to my mutha clam) in the great Rocky Mountains, are fixing up our house (ssssssooooooooosssssllllooooowwwwllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyy), and loving the life of owning our own home, two pups, and each other. I am graduating with my bachelors in Literature from BYU in August, trying to finish my books to be published, and coaching my swim team. Brent is busy busy with his framing company, and trying to come home each night before I lose my temper. =O) We are so excited for this summer- for camping and traveling and my family reunion and then a trip to Hawaii for our 3rd anniversary (woo woo). And that, I believe- is the basics.
